With 26 years of varied industry experience
Berni Gilmore set up Prime
Colour Proofing in 2002 to provide an
accurate alternative to digital proofing.
Berni
started his career in 1976
serving a traditional 4 year
apprenticeship at Litho Pre
Print. Both work and college based the apprenticeship
gave him a good grounding
in all aspects of repro and
printing.
Moving to Lautrecs in 1981 Berni
gained experience in proofing
limited edition fine art
prints as well as many kinds of greeting
cards.
In 1982 he moved to Lund
Humphries and gained further
valuable experience of
running 5 & 6 colour Heidelberg presses, becoming their
Quality Control Manager tasked with implementing
BS5750.
Another move in 1994 to BPC
Digital Labels, responsible
for the running of the planning,
platemaking and proofing departments,
Berni also gained experience of letterpress and
flexo.
Finally
in 1998 Berni moved
to Leebank Proofers.
Specialising in fingerprinting presses
to establish density
and dot gain parameters to ensure proofs
accurately matched the finished product
on any stock inc. tin, plastic, paper and
board.
